Guendouzi joined the Ligue 1 outfit back in 2022 following a successful loan spell at the club that saw him re-locate from London to the south of France.

Cassis is a scenic resort that is situated just 30km south of Marseille’s home stadium on the Mediterranean coast. Several of his Marseille team-mates also live in the area.

The 24-year-old is the latest of several footballers playing in France to have had their houses robbed in recent years.

His former Arsenal and Marseille team-mate, Sead Kolasinac had his home in Cassis burgled in January while he too was playing in a French cup tie.

The defenders family were in the house at the time of the robbery, which left his daughter ‘traumatised’.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been troubled by burglars before after a knife wielding mugger confronted him in London in 2019, while he was playing for Arsenal.

The report from La Provence also claims that other Marseille players had been robbed in the Cassis area in 2021 but similar incidents have been occurring all over the country for some time.

French intelligence service, Sirasco, claim that ’22 footballers in 2021 were the target of criminals’.

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his girlfriend were reportedly attacked and tied up in their home, in what was a terrifying ordeal.

The burglars managed to make off with ?430,000 worth of loot with Donnarumma and his girlfriend being taken to hospital to receive care for shock.

His former PSG team-mate, Angel Di Maria was also burgled while playing for the club in 2021, with thieves being given a seven-year prison sentence after they made off with ?450,000 worth of goods.
